On Sunday 20 October, 80 years to the day after the Liberation of Bruyères by the Americans, descendants of Nisei soldiers, two sites were inaugurated in the presence of a delegation from Honolulu:
- the Clairière du Souvenir (Remembrance clearing), which invites visitors to explore the path leading to the Helledraye American memorial
- the memorial plaque in honour of Sergeant Robert Kuroda, who lost his life near Chapelle de la Roche
A third plaque was unveiled a few days earlier: that of the Honolulu Gate, at the entrance to the porch of Avenue du Cameroun.
For these three sites, we produced three different plaques, at the request of Bruyères Town Hall and Sébastien Roure, see the article describing the genesis of the project.
